In Nature's Mirror

Since classical times, Western artists have used the natural world as a metaphor for their aspirations or, increasingly, as a mirror of their passions and fears. Using landscape as a linking thread, the class will examine the changing relationship of art to nature, with particular emphasis on painting and music, but also including poetry, architecture, and landscape gardening.
